Nate is just your average (above average) guitar player. He’s no Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix or Jimmy Page – wait this site is about acoustic guitars (sorry) He’s no Django Reinhardt, Chet Atkins, or Michael Hedges, wait? who!?
He’s no Robert Johnson, Eric Clapton or Ben Harper – more familiar? Anyway you get the point 🙂
Finding the Right Guitar
Being the average above average guitarist gives me one distinct qualification. I know what the average guitar player is looking for. They don’t have the resources to spend $15,000 on a guitar – nor do they need such a guitar.
The above average guitarist and beginner guitarist a-like wants something that can aid their progression, is a pleasure to play and puts out a great sound. That can definitely be achieved for a reasonable price.
Problem is that a lot of guitarists don’t know what to look for that is going to suit them sounds wise, playability-wise and is in their price range so they just buy a guitar and hope it works out o.k. or they inherit a guitar that in no way suits them as a player.
I’ve played hundreds of different guitars over the past 25 years so I think I can help you.
The first goal with this website is to help guitarists to find the acoustic guitar that is going to be the most enjoyable instrument possible within their price range. I’ve experienced first hand the difference the right guitar can make to your playing enjoyment.
This will be done through guitar reviews and information of how to pick the best acoustic guitar for your own personal needs. See the guitar review page and How To/Tips page of for more details.
Improving without Pain
Every guitarist strives to get better. And wants to get better efficiently. I don’t know a single soul who would want to spend hour after agonizing hour of doing something boring in practice and not really getting any better. Sounds a bit like torture to me!
But a lot of the time guitarists end up not spending any time doing things that are actually making them a better player.
That’s why another big part of this website is guitar lesson reviews. From beginner guitar lessons to more advanced lessons. My mission is to track down the very best guitar lessons online.
The reason for this? So that I can help guitarists find lessons that will help them to see a steady but obvious improvement through techniques that aren’t boring and will actually help them to improve. I’m convinced they’re out there and the aim is to find them, try them out and review them – and in the process I’m hoping to do more of the ‘getting better with less effort’ and less of the ‘lots of effort without getting any better’ stuff!
But I’m sure I’ll get both – but I can tell you what to steer clear of and what to take the chance on.
How To’s, What Are’s, Tips & Tricks
The third and final purpose of this website is to provide practical tips that will actually help guitarists find the desired sound that they want through experimenting with different set ups, how to take care of their instrument, how to re-string, which strings to use for which style and ability and so on.

Hi, i am searching for a replacement preamp for my new🙄 Takamine a bought from a woman. My Takamine is the EG541C model. I habe been unsucessfull searching for now
Tks
Hey Guy,
Hope you’re well. My own searches on this subject have also turned up fruitless! Your best bet would probably be to buy another Takamine EG541C and cull the preamp from that (not a great move), or to contact Takamine themselves for some guidance on the subject. Takamine guitars are fantastic and you sure don’t want to lose one to ineptitude.
Hope this helps!!
Hello;
I recently purchased a Denver acoustic electric model No. D-TGS travel size.
Can you give me some history on it?
Seems your site needs some polishing re. jumping from page/subject to page/subject.
Read some of the guitar material thoughts. You have the potential to be a quite good source of guitar info.
