ACOUSTIC GUITARS FOR BEGINNERS REVIEWS
Why These Guitars?
The guitars above are chosen for a few different factors.
- Ease of play
- Stay in tune
- Accurate intonation
- Decent sound quality
- Within a certain price range
Price is one factor in selecting the beginner guitars above. However, price isn’t everything – as some people assume for beginner guitars.
Yes it’s true that a beginner is less willing to invest in a guitar – and fair enough.
And it may also be true that most beginner guitarists aren’t going to appreciate the difference of a $4,000 guitar over a $400 guitar.
But if you get a beginner guitar that sounds terrible, it will….well sound terrible. And the beginner will be put off playing because they aren’t producing a nice sound – and it may not be their playing at all, but the instrument that they have.
Also if you just focus on price, then you are at risk of getting a guitar that is difficult to play. This is another thing that is likely to put off a beginner from continuing to play the instrument. Not only that, it will also make progress slow and painful.
So, the playability of a guitar is also important for beginners.
Staying in tune and correct intonation and also critical when assessing a good beginners guitar. Get a guitar that goes out of tune easily or one where the intonation is off and you won’t be able to tell if it’s you or the guitar that is playing something wrong. This is not an effective way to learn!
So price is one thing, but not make the mistake of thinking that a beginner guitar should just be the cheapest one you can find. Because if you go in with that attitude you are risking buying a guitar that is going to be hard to learn on and that will sound terrible.
By Far not the Only Options
The guitars selected as beginner guitars here are by far not the only guitars out there suitable for beginners. These are just what I consider to be the best beginner options from the guitars that I have demoed and reviewed. As I review more and more guitars this will become a more complete list but just because a guitar isn’t on this list doesn’t make it unsuitable for a beginner.
